Instruments Taught and at What Levels

Chris Neave is an experienced teacher and performer offering singing lessons and coaching for beginners through to professional level. He teaches at his home in Enfield as well as in studios in central London, by arrangment.

Chris has an extensive knowledge of classical opera and songs, covering baroque to contemporary performance styles.

Chris also works with singers with a wide range of other musical styles: jazz, cabaret, gospel, R&B and West End musicals.

He helps students choose suitable repertoire for study, performance and auditions. He encourages amateurs to fulfil their ambitions, and helps more developed singers hone their skills.

Ages Taught

Adults and children (7 years and upwards) are welcome.

Grades and Examinations

Preparation for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams, grades I to VIII.

Current students include a finalist in Pride of North London 2004 competition, and performer in Christmas show with Aled Jones; a successful auditionee for 'Bombay Dreams'; an operatic tenor in 'Lucia' and 'Merry Widow'; and many singers who want to have fun exploring and improving their singing.

Fees and Rates

£38.00 per hour/19.00 per half hour

First consultation lesson half-price - £19.00 for an hour, with no obligation

Students up to age 16 are generally recommended to have half-hour lessons.

Other Information

Chris aims to provide a holistic approach to singing teaching and coaching. He teaches in a way that is fulfilling and enjoyable, while acknowledging the physical and psychological challenges of voice training. His teaching is tailored to the individual’s unique needs and ability, and focuses on good vocal health. He works with the student to identify their personal and professional goals and supports the student in attaining them.

About Chris Neave

Chris has a Diploma in Opera Performance from the University of London, including acting, movement and dance for singers, history of opera, language coaching (Italian, French, German) and audition techniques. He additionally holds a Grade VIII certificate in piano from the Associated Board.

Chris is a proficient linguist, with fluent Italian, a sound knowledge of French, as well as the ability to assist with German and Spanish pronunciation.

In addition to his musical skills, Chris has excellent interpersonal skills gained from his experience as a personal development trainer.
